September Newsletter: Important Dates and Info

We have a ton of goings-on here at ToMA! As such, we want to share our September Newsletter, so you can be aware of some of the amazing things happening, along with other important dates for the upcoming school year.

IMPORTANT DATES: HOLIDAYS, RECITALS & ToMA DAY AT SCOTIABANK ARENA

·       Winter Break: December 23-January 5

·       March Break: March 11-15 plus one weekend

·       Recitals TBA: One will be late January/early February, the other will be the second week of June. We are finalizing these with our venue, and will let you know as soon as we can!

We have other seminars and masterclasses in the works, which will be announced as they finalize.

But most excitingly, our ToMA Family Day at Scotiabank Arena is back! After last year's POWERHOUSE performance, we were asked to return to Scotiabank Arena to perform the national anthems. In fact, we were asked last April, earlier than ever before! We have parts for every single player at every level (even if you've only had two or three classes!). We also need lots of help singing - and no, you don't have to be taking vocal lessons to contribute here (but it helps!). Tickets, rehearsals and more information will be coming very soon, so we can have an incredible repeat performance. GET EXCITED!

ToMA Children’s Choir (kids 6-11)

After several seasons working virtually, our Children's Choir will be starting up late September on Saturday early afternoons. Run by Meredith Wanstall (conductor and theory coordinator with Bach Children's Chorus), this wonderful choir gives all students the opportunity to learn more about pitch, tone, musicality and more, all while playing musical games and learning with friends. We invite everyone who is interested to attend the first rehearsal when the invite goes out. You don't have to be a singing student to join! Choir helps everyone who does anything in music. We have an old saying: If you can sing it, you can play it!

DISCOUNT AT REMENYI HOUSE OF MUSIC

Starting up often requires buying some materials, so let us help make things a bit more affordable! For many years, we have partnered with Remenyi House of Music to help our community with a special discount exclusive to our school. From books and supplies, to even instruments, they have always provided our students and faculty with amazing selection and service. Simply let them know you are with us, and they will take care of the rest.

We will also have a small shop at the school for your convenience furnished by Remenyi, so stay tuned for that!
