Back to School: Can Adults Take Lessons?

This is a question we get a lot when people contact us. It may surprise you, but about 40% of our students are adults! We hear many similar stories:

  • "I played for a few years as a kid, but I stopped. I wish I never had quit, and I really want to get back into it!"
  • "I've never played music before, but I really enjoy listening to and being around music."
  • "I'm retired and want to keep my mind sharp."
  • "I've always been in love with the piano/cello/violin/singing, and want to try it!"
  • "I want to try writing/I love listening to jazz/I want to understand music more."

At Toronto Music Alliance, we have a lot of experience working with adults of all levels. While we understand it can be intimidating to start something new and challenging like music, our aim is always to inspire and share our love of music - whatever your goals!
